A war doesn’t stop with a ceasefire

A war carries on in the mind

Waiting a chance to grab more for me

And harm the other side

Attitude changes come ever so slowly

Take generations or more

Till the children ask in sincerity

Who were they fighting for

Bravery in war or at home

Is remembered a very long time

Family annals are kept on the shelf

To remember who we are

Working for Peace with a spirit of goodwill

Is the agenda for today

Acceptance and respect for others, and hope,  

To be found along the way
